YouTube user Earz62801 today reported that he will release a firmware hack for some Canon DSLR cameras
on January 1st 2011. The 4k Firmware Hack will enable users to shoot video in 2k, 3k and even 4k resolution with bitrates up to 175 Mb/s.
The announcement contributed to a controversy. Some declare the hack to be a hoax because it sounds too good to be true. We will see on Saturday.
